Health Company Owners Plead Guilty in Fraud Scheme

The US Department of Justice (DoJ) has announced that Family Healthcare Group owners Clifford Ubani and Princewill Njoku have pleaded guilty for their involvement in a US$5.2 million Medicare fraud scheme. The defendants hired co-conspirators “to recruit Medicare beneficiaries for the purpose of filing claims with Medicare for skilled nursing that was medically unnecessary and/or not provided”, and paid kickbacks to these co-conspirators for their recruitments. Ubani and Njoku have previously admitted to submitting about US$1.1 million in fraudulent Medicare claims relating to another health care company, Family Healthcare Services.
