Plastic Company Guilty of Misleading Conduct

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced that Goody Environment Pty Ltd (Goody) has been found guilty of engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct, and making false representations about their plastic bags. Goody claimed that these plastic bags were biodegradable and compostable however it was found that the bags contained excessive concentration of heavy metal and did not biodegrade in accordance with the Australian Standard. Goody has been ordered to publish corrective notices, conduct compliance and education programs, and contribute towards the ACCC’s cost of proceedings.
