Crackdown on Cosmetic Contact Lenses

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced that internet marketer Royal Tronics Inc, and three associated individuals, have agreed to cease selling cosmetic “circle” lenses in settlement of FTC charges relating to the sale of contact lenses without prescriptions. The settlements are part of the FTC’s efforts to require sellers to verify that a consumer has a valid prescription before selling contact lenses, in order to protect consumers from the health risks posed by the improper use of contact lenses.
